Looking over the GM powertrain
stuff prompted my original question.
Max engine torque is rated at 
350 ft-lb
Max gearbox torque
670 ft-lb.
for the 4L60E
My 5.3 L GMC is rated 325 ft-lb
@4000 RPM  not much margin
left for torque improvements if
you go by GM's rating.
