Flash VATS

A friend is installing a 1999 Silverado 5.3L (LM7, engine and its ECM) in
his older truck and would like to disable VATS.

His current known solution is to send it to http://www.fastchip.com for a
$450 fix.

Have you guys with the flash ECMs figured out how to DIY?
