There is a Canadian company called Alberta Printed Circuits in Calgary,
which makes very reasonably priced circuit boards. They are double
sided, plated through boards (although no solder mask or silkscreen),
and usually you can get prototypes in 3 days. You simply email your
artwork, they process the order in 48 hours, and send the completed
boards back overnight air envelope. An order for 2 - 3"x5" boards would
be around $75US, including shipping. The boards are fairly good
quality, but not something you'd want to use in a commercial product.
But, they are cheep and fast for prototypes. I don't even bother
handwiring circuits anymore. It's cheaper and faster just to carve a
board. See their site at:

Also, another Canadian company has a fast prototyping service and
they do provide solder mask and silkscreen. Their service takes 5
days, and you can have as many boards as will fit on 2 - 5"x8" panels
for $100US. Shipping is extra. These guys do very professional looking
boards, but you have to shear them out yourself if there's more than 1
board to a panel. They are Omni Graphics, in Vancouver:

Look for the "No Tooling" prototype link on the main page.
