[Gmecm] commodore std and hsv memcals???

hi, i have just tried a      vr auto hsv 185 kw memcal in a 5.0 auto  vr.
the standard memcal didnt have a knock board.
after about 10 seconds the engine check lite comes on , is this normal  if a
memcal without a knock board is replaced  with a memcal that has a knock
board  ??
