What is estequiometry ?

Hy Tomas

Brazilian cars use gasoline with 25% of ethanol in their composition.
So it have enormous chances to use ethanol with gasoline parts, due to the
security coeficient that is used in the project.
Bosch made secret test with an opel OMEGA 3.0 6 cilinders, in that ocassion the omega was imported and the project has no development to use ethanol.
So, Bosch tested it about 140.000 km using ethanol and after they opened the powertrain system and discovered that it was fine to go more and more
...Stainless parts and rubber...
Of couse tha is a little diferent materials between gasolin to ethanol cars, but
We already done monza EFI to ethanol and it works fine (and a lot of cars, VW, FIAT, FORD etc), the enormous problem is:
-The quality of the gasoline used before turnning it to ethanol, cars that don?t use aditiveted gasoline wich clean the system, have problems with fuel pump, ethanol clean the system and if the car has deposites of carbon etc it will make it problem in the pump, filters and injectors. It?s recomended to do a completely clean setup at your system it you don?t use aditiveted gasoline.
-Injectors goes fine with ethanol, we use then on turbo charges to provide more fuel and it works fine.
AFter a lot of experiment it?s totally possible to use ethanol in gasoline cars here in Brazil, of course, you have to setup your EFI map to use more time injection due to the estequiometry and more ignition angle (original gasoline compression ratio).
Today here, we have parts that were developed to be interchangeable between ethanol and gasoline, like fuel pump tha works with gasoline or ethanol or a mixture of it (flex fuel), making more easier to made the change.
Best Regards

Luciano

OBS: BMW series 5, 8, had problems here with ethanol that "attacked" some parts of the cilinders composity that reduces the friction. So is it the worst case..
