[Gmecm] Saturn engine swap

Not sure about Saturn specifically, but many FWD cars give up their
engine/ transmission assembly with minimal effort. After disconnecting
everything, my Century requires removing 6 nuts, one bolt, and disconnecting
the 2 CV shafts. Then the engine/trans assy. lifts out esaily.
This is off topic but I am working on my new turbo system for this car.
Pictures on the links below. This car has been converted from MAF to S/D
fuel control using all GM parts. I was in the process of tuning the ECM when
the original, obsolete turbo failed. Once I get this new system installed it
will be back to square 1 with the tuning.
Some of the angles of the plumbing may look strange but this system is
designed around some existing components. The old setup wasn't designed as
well and the trans TV cable was in a bind and the exhaust went up the front
of the engine placing it near the oil cooler lines and making an inefficent
push-type fan the only option that was usable.
The old system was built when the car had a 125C transmission. That tore
up quite effectively. The larger 440T4 has a TV cable exiting the top of
the trans near the bellhousing. I had to "cheat" and make an angled adapter
to get that to work with the old turbo. It worked well but the TV cables
didn't last very long. The wastegate is at the angle shown to allow a
straight path to the TV cable connection AND leave room for fire sleeve
insulation around the cable to protect it from the heat. The TV cable goes
in the space between the wastegate and the downpipe in the triangle-shaped
area. Not connected in the pictures.
I'm designing this setup to use a conventional rear-exit exhaust downpipe
and minimize awkward air plumbing on the compressor side of the turbo.
Hopefully it will be much less restrictive than the old system. Not to
mention the 'technology' in this particular turbo as compared to the old
Rajay it used to have.
  Later,
David
