[Gmecm] Reluctor / rotor phasing

Yes: By phasing i mean relationship of rotor tip to plug tower. On non
electronic distributors this could be adjusted somewhat by loosening a
screw here and there and moving breaker plates etc. If the Dist is
homemade than proper pick up to plug tower phasing must be considered.
The rotor tip to plug terminal can be off quiet a bit and cause the spark
to jump a great distance and the engine will appear to run just fine. But
as you say a clear cap or one with a hole hogged out does the trick.
hogging a hole is better because you can see inside clearer. I have one
that I hogged all 8 towers out and drove the car that way for some time
before i removed it. Luckily no rain got in there Ha!. 6 deg of crank
rotation is only 3 deg of dist rotation. Even at high RPMs the spark
usually has a short distance to jump if all is aligned properly. I bet
there are a lot of dist's out there that could be improved upon in that
area.
