[Gmecm] 340 EFI (longish)

OK, I've managed to get off my butt and at least upload some photos of the
EFI system on the old girl. My web pages are horribly out of date, without
much chance they will get updated very soon, now that there's a little guy
(6-months old) in the house. Still, I try to get out and tinker when I can.
Here's the nutshell version:

'72-model steel-crank 340, with PERHAPS 8.5:1 compression. It had been
rebuilt by the previous owner, and I didn't want to do a full rebuild and
take more life out of this relatively rare block, so I just freshened it up
and went with it. Heads are smog castings with bowl porting and port
matching, 2.02/1.60 valves. Cam is a relatively mild Crane HMV272, also
from the spare parts bin in the garage. It made 260hp and 300lb-ft at the
rear wheels when I took it to a dyno a year ago. It managed 13" of vacuum
at idle with the carb, which is my main worry with the chip that came with
my kit - I need 15.

The kit, BTW, is a 7730 controller with a custom chip made to work with my
engine combo based upon info I provided to the guys at
http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/ They also provided a new wiring
harness, throttle body, 24# injectors, fuel pump, regulator, a "box" to work
with my distributor, and all the sensors needed. I supplied the intake
manifold, distributor (OEM Chrysler "Lean Burn" magnetic pickup), OEM Dodge
Magnum truck fuel rails, and other various items. I've also made some
substantial changes to the system in the throttle body and FPR areas, so
some of the parts supplied in the kit aren't on the car.

Although I'm sure the system will run, I'm equally sure some tuning will be
required, and that's why I've been lurking here and on DIY-EFI for the last
3 years or so. Anyway, on to the photos...

I've finally got all but the last couple of details sorted out on my
serpentine belt project, and can now get on with finishing up the EFI
install. Here's some pics:

Mopar Performance M1 Magnum engine EFI manifold:

OEM air cleaner installed:

Throttle body view, with most of the OEM Magnum engine serpentine system in
place:

The serpentine system was a tedious project in and of itself. I did the
upgrade so that I could have a higher-amp alternator to be sure the EFI was
getting enough juice, and to also run the electric fan and AC system that is
in the works. Serp upgrade photos...

Belt Installed:

New water pump pulley clearance (the mag system is at least an inch shorter
than the LA)

Nature abhors a vacuum... a fatter Volvo fan eats up some of the new-found
space:

That about get us caught up with where we are as of three weeks ago. No
progress since then, too many honey-do's and crappy weather lately. The
goal is to be running by late March...
