Current wont change much (depending on the level of precision required)
DVOM measured resistance will NOT be able to accurately represent the true 
active resistance of this type of device. The true resistance of the heater 
is going to be much higher than measurable with a DVOM. Once connected and 
the sensor quickly reaches operating temperature the current will be 
stabilized the measured amperage will not change significantly.My question 
was to why the originating author wouldn't just measure the current 
directly- if that was a concern.
However the active resistance of an HO2S heater actually changes through 
time and thermal cycling, enough so that the latest crop of GM ECMs (such as 
the E67) actually learns/stores the heater current/resistance in order to 
provide adapt capability to some of the heater diagnostic routines.
