LOL.  The "Read This First" cards (RTF. Nice.) found in packaging are similarly ignored, even when the product is something the purchaser knows nothing about.

I believe what he meant was the "Remanufactured" ECU from the local DIY auto
parts store, still had the red label "Warning Label" on the outside, over
the chip access cover.
Those labels typically read "HEY YOU ! This unit does NOT come with a chip.
Don't Forget to pull the factory chip out of your old part and put it in
here under this label. HEY YOU ! This is a bright red label. You're reading
this right? It's Important."
Well, at least that's how I remember it.

If the ecm still has the factory label on it it should have the three or 
four letter calpack code (like HWX or AKRK) on it along with the ECM 
number like 1228063.
