Suitable Microcontrollers?

For a basic overview of modern automotive electronics, I liked "Understanding
Automotive Electronics" by William B. Ribbens.  Its available from SAMS, ISBN
# 0-672-27064-6.  It was $17.95 when I bought it.  It covers modern
transducers used in automotive control systems, as well as what the control
system is trying to accomplish.  For what goes inside the black box the
recent Circuit Cellar Ink (issues Sept- Nov. '95) series by Ed Lansinger gave
a pretty good overview of the software and interface circuits.
