Give the guy a break! It's not his fault that Hull university lost Email
capability! After all, if aol or compuserve (god forbid :-) had some sort
of fault with Email, would YOU like to be indiscriminately attacked for it?

Methinks an apology to the gentleman concerned is in order from you both.

Also, FWIW, the problem lies with the mailing-list program. It should not
have bounced bounced messages onto the list.

PS: This is not an entirely altruistic post, as I have reason to believe that
our mail server was a bit flaky this weekend (that'll teach the sysop to upgrade
stuff on a Friday 13th!). Apologies to all if this resulted in any messages
being bounced onto the list.
