   If there was only 100 milivolts out of the inductive-pickup-coil you would
never forward bias (and hence turn on) the SCR. Did you have the coil
connected drectly up to the 50-ohm imput of your scope? This could give you a
deceptive "feel" for howmuch voltage you will see across the picup.
