Knock sensor using HIP9010

I am designing a knock monitor around the HIP9010 chip. The data sheet
only gives a "minimum" circuit. Has anyone actually used this component
in a real application? I need to know two things:

1. Is there any additional protection or biasing components needed for
   the inputs?

2. What sort of settings are best for the programmable filters in this
   device?
