HEI vs CDI

Why is everyone building a conventional points replacement ignition circuit
rather than a capacative discharge ignition?

My experience says that CDI (MSD-6M) is FAR superior to inductive discharge
(points). If we are going so far as to build a complete engine management
system, why are we making such a large concession in performance?
