I have thought about this too. My idea was to use a large water pump to load
the engine. I would throttle the discharge of the pump to load the engine
and measure the resulting torque. Since I work at a 760 mega watt power
plant and have seen the effects of catastrophic power train failures, I'm
not sure if I would have the nerve to go near a home built dyno loaded up
with 300 hp @ 6,000rpm. But, you only live once so..."it's better to burn
out than fade away....'
