PULP in Australia is (from memory) 96 octane, whereas leaded has been 
reduced to 95, therefore you should be able to run with PULP, at 
least for tuning with an O2 sensor

Valve seat recession is a long term problem, and it certainly doesn't 
preclude the use of ULP in pre-ULP engines.  It depends on what you 
want to acheive.
