Dan, I think the throttle body heat source is to prevent ice from forming on
the air valve. Had this problem with a Holly carb on a cold manifold. You
could see the ice as it formed, interior and exterior of the main body. Cold
wet days were a sad song for me back then! There are water jackets at the
base of the GM TPI manifold and the EGR inlets are there.
