You should have tried to get a diaphragm for an Audi turbo wastegate a
few months ago... only way was to buy a new wastegate for > $600!
Not any more - I took one to a local manufacturer and got some made.
It ain't cheap, but a LOT better than $600!

The material is a fluoro-silicone rubber with a fiberglass reinforcement
in case you are interested in making anything similar.
