Yes, I could do that.  However this requires me to reverse engineer existing
power supplies, though getting the schematic might not be that difficult
considering how vast the info on the 'net is.

Smaller toriod cores can be purchased from Digikey (www.digikey.com), Mouser
electronics on occasion, and several other places.

Yet another good possibility for my problem.  And over the next week I shall
see what I can devise, and report back :)
