Being that most of the Eproms in GM units are derivitives of the 27xxx 
series Eproms, obtaining a Eprom burner is probably the best route, 
especially if you are going to modify, change, or create a new prom.  If 
your PC is like mine, i.e. slotless, you might opt for a parallel-port 
based unit.  I was going to order a new eprom burner/reader and I'll find 
you the address next time I am in the garage... it was $119 + shipping.

Has anybody written a program to read a EPROM/EEPROM with a 6811 and
write it to a file using the SCI ?

Any other cheap methods of extracting the code ???
