The GM pump I have is from a FWD LeSabre, which I pulled out of the tank
since I'm making my own tank (whole car actually), and the fuel pump had
absolutely nothing exposed that I could see. When I pulled it from the
tank, I wiped it off, and as I rotated it around, fuel didn't spill from
the insides of the pump, just a few drops here and there which I had
assumed came from those little nooks and crannies here and there. I washed
the unit in parts cleaner, and still, nothing poured from the inside, and
when you shake it, there is no slooshing sound indicating its holding fluid.

Maybe my pump is different, I can't say for sure, my comments were solely
based on this one little pump :)

I definately don't blame you here !
