CR Ratio ?

Hi All,

Ok here's a question - hope someone has an idea/....

My pet project, as you may already know, is a turbo charged 1200cc
Kawasaki. The compression ratio is currently 7.5:1. Using a T2 turbo,
the boost comes up at about 4000rpm, and climbs quite spectacularily to
10lb. It is very interesting to ride (read as frightening). However,
because the compression ratio is so low, off boost, the bike can be a
little sluggish. On boost, the bike is fine. Now, I am just about to do
a strip down and repaint. While I am there, It would not be much hassle
to change the CR ratio, bringing a bit more life back into the engine
when it is not on boost.

It is a 2 valve per cylinder engine, revs to 9500, runs on un-leaded
(normal fuel for our american friends).

The question is, what would the optimum CR ratio be ?

I think that 8.5:1 would be ok, but has any one else got any better
solutions than finger in the air type of figures?

Cheers in advance
Tony
P.S. May everyone who reads this have a very merry christmas, and a
happy new year.
