Propane injection

Remember that as the fuel stream shifts to lighter fuels such as propane and alcohol, the specific density of the fuel vapor is less than the same heat value of gasoline or diesel. The vaporized fuel will displace more air than equivalent gasoline. There will be less air in the cylinder than if only gasoline is present. This is significant to engine performance mainly at WOT.

Propane may contribute significantly to predentonation prevention simply by displacing air from the process. Almost certainly, less power will be available.

If the system is turbocharged more power will be consumed pumping the charge to the desired density.
