turbo/supercharging - turbo sounds!

As previously stated I've got a twin turbo 302. Reading all this about the
sounds makes me smile! My car with hi-flo cats, 2.5 inch exhaust, and 2
chamber Flowmasters or my current Dynomax exhaust is quieter (!) than
stock. I've raced it many times and the best experience was when a friend
who'd been backpeddling the car jumped on it at the end to win the race.
Guy he beat swore we ran nitrous and we had to let him examine the whole
car - even under the hood. He found no bottle but when we opened the hood
he swore a blue streak! The car is seriously quiet and even the turbine
noise is pretty quiet. The Bosche bypass valve (from a Porsche - $50 and
same as Vortechs $99 valve!) makes a sound like a sneeze or soda bottle
opening and few people know what it is. I've been asked to rev the engine
and do all sorts of stuff by people who can't figure out where the blower
is - I love it. Darn turbos are buried under so much junk you can hardly
see them with the hood opened. If a 351W fits it's going to be a monster!

As for NOT running mufflers - that would be hard. The car gets a serious
base rumble and wasn't really comfortable this way when I tried it. I'd
keep some sort of muffler on it but it can be seriously free flowing. You
want as little backpressure there as possible...

To keep this on a DIY bent. I'm running a DFI and would love to hear from
anyone who's found good ways of analyzing the data dumps and maps. In
particular I'm thinking of "eavesdroping" on the comm line between
precessor and box to try and figure out the control codes and such. I'd
love to find ways of manipulating the data out of the DFI...
