I would use their extra thick headgaskets if available for 4.155" bores

Though it's a bit premature before I have the engine partially assembled
and know the deck height.

No way. If I have to leave the world of stock axles (10 bolt is in the car
with a 2.77 Borg-Warner as a backup on the garage floor) then I would opt
for a Currie or similar Ford style axle.

The cost of a Dana 44 is just to high... If Ive got to pay that much to
stop grenading gearsets (not that I've busted one yet) then I'd like to get
some additional benefit in the bargain, like the removable center section
of the Ford based axles.

Do tell.. I was under the impression that the GM knock sensor was an all
or nothing deal, if the sensor trips, then the ECM dumps 30 degrees of
timing to suppress knock. (Or are you referring to what the HEI module in
the distributor base is capable of ?)

Could you run that by me again in english? I don't understand what you
mean by that.
