I broke one, however it was attached to 48" tires, axle deep in the mud,
with a blown 460 on the other end.  Gotta watch that clutch release.  I
will admit it takes a lot to break one :)  I've used 9" (with Richmond
Gears) in drag applications before with minimal breakage.  Mostly the
mounts that hold the 4-link on, but that's about it.
