The LM78xx series are positive regulators, the LM79xx series are negative
regulators.

LM7809 brings 11-25V down to 9V, at 1.5A max (with a heat sink), and the
LM7805 brings 7V-25V down to 5V, also at 1.5A if heat sinked correctly.
