Oxidation can occur but it is highly unlikely a _properly_ set up water
injection system will cause any more oxidation than the water that is
already present as a byproduct of combustion.  Cylinder temperatures are
around 2000 F so any water that's in there goes out with the exhaust.

Nonsense.  Water injection is one very effective method of addressing at
least one problem that exists in potentially any engine -- detonation.  It
also makes an extremely effective intercooler.  Furthermore it is relatively
cheap to implement and maintain.  It works.

What's the difference?  Alcohol causes oxidation even moresor than plain ole
water.  It has it's place but do you really expect to take say a 402 alcohol
injected engine and drive it around on the street?
