1227165 ECM

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction for these questions?

1.  Other than the co$t/hassle of the MAF, are there any fatal flaws or
drawbacks to the 1227165 from late 80's Camaro with TPI, for use in retrofit
of EFI on to older (40's-50's) vehicles? 

2.  In considering both MPI and TBI approaches, are there "no-brainer" best
choices for ECM's to use??      ECM's to stay away from??

3.  Also has there been a string (now in archives) relating to use of
sensors from one mfg. with ECM of another mfg.???    Especially Ford or
Mopar sensors (seem to be more available) with GM ECM's.
