The byte code is 1 start bit 8 data 1 stop bit NRZ
which is same as rs232 except it is inverted.
A PC rs232 UART baud can be set to 5 b and 10.4 Kb
The rs232 interface would work except 9141 is open collector,
I was only able to drop line by 1 volt.
