[Sigh].....and I would ask you to please remember that not everyone on this
list has the time/skill or even the inclination to delve into to depths of
the code/electronics of OEM ECU's for whatever purpose. For many of us the
aftermarket ECU's are the answer - but that doesn't make it any less
"diy-efi", AFAIC - you will probably disagree. Having said that, I think
the original posters remarks were, well, intemperate, and I can understand
why you would say this, although that doesn't mean I agree with you.
I'm in that "aftermarket ECU" category, mainly because, being a lowly
metallurgist, my programming/electronics skills are virtually zilch, but
I'm a member of this list because I've found it to be *very* informative
and I've learnt one hell of a lot. But I certainly DO consider that I have
put in the "personal effort" with my EFI projects, allbeit with an
aftermarket ECU.
In the end I must admit a high degree of admiration for the efforts of some
of you "extreme" diy guys, but I would ask you to please have some
tolerance for "the rest of us" - sorely tested though that may be at times.
