I think this was discussed one before, I will have to check the archives,
because I'm not sure what the end result was as far as feasibility from a
cencensus point of view.  its been a while :)

Maybe, instead of an electric motor, one could devise an infinately
variable speed gearbox, attach it to the engine and the transaxle, and have
your ECM manage and control the gear ration.  This way, at lower RPMs, the
blower would be spinning very fast, but only slightly increasing in speed
as the engine's RPM's go way up.

Definately an interesting project to write code for, whether mechanical
variable drive, or via your electric motor suggestion :)
