This will conclude the 101 freshman class.
The final exam will see if it works.
With ex1.c in PCM editor press compile.
If you have any typing errors you will get messages explaining your
mistakes, You must correct and recompile untill you get success.
Take your PIC16F84 chip place on flat surface and bend both rows
of pins slightly to fit in the 18 pin programming socket.
Match location of pin#1 marking dimple on chip and pin#1 lettering
on programmer board and insert chip. Connect programmer to
printer port and plug power supply in. Press program to start your
spep.exe program. On spep screen set device to F84. Load your
ex1.obj program. If you get file error check your object file
extension could be ex1.hex depending on compiler options setting also
helful to have spep.exe in your project directory were ex1.obj is.
Check the upper left listing for correct settings, they should
agree with your #fuses listing code protect=off oscillator=XT
watchdog=off timer=off. Press program, if you get error message
check power and printer connection and pin#1 location. On success
press any key, then escape to return to PCM compiler.
Place chip in your project board, connect rs232 to your PC serial
port. The CCS compiler comes with a simple comm program called
sio.exe. Exit to dos shell and run sio.exe. Set to 9600 baud
1 stop bit and no parity bit. Set port to your rs232 port number.
If you do not now this number run msd.exe or other utility program.
If you are using another comm program make sure CTS and DSR or
disabled, or connect db9pins 7to8 together and 6,1,4 together.
Turn on your PIC power and watch your new screen saver.
