Thermal Sensor and Load Sensor

Thanks for all the input - still running down some info.  Will be using 
a thermocouple placed "close" to the surface.  Just need "not hot" "hot" 
"damned hot - do something" data so should work fine and have that 
socially redeeming value of being cheap.

Someone mentioned drive shaft load sensor.  Must have been asleep when 
that thread came by before.  Would anyone care to elaborate on where 
this is stealable from?   I can see many nice uses for this - even more 
on something as large as an rv.  Thanks in advance for any data or 
pointers to data.
