Good intro to Bosch EFI is "Bosch Fuel Injection & Engine Management"
by Robert Probst. Little electronic background necessary.
Try "Max Boost", by Corky Bell, for a current view
of supercharging technology.
If you're really innocent of electronics Radio Shack sells a primer
titled "Basic Electronics" which is cheap and well done.
With your background "The Art of Electronics", by Horowitz & Hill,
could be just the ticket. It's not cheap, but is specifically aimed
at those educated in other technical disciplines.
The various "Cookbooks" by Don Lancaster will give you a lot of useful
down-and-dirty application stuff.
When I was in school the ME's looked down on us lower life forms
from a lofty height - Assume your pose of humility stems from a
rational desire not to get caught up in the vituperation. Don't
blame you - It's a waste of time. Have fun.
