basically...
compression ratio = capacity of cylinder at BTC (in cc) + capacity of
combustion chamber (also in cc) / capacity of combustion chamber.
BUT.. this does NOT allow for shape of piston (ie, dished, domed)...
also does not allow for such things as the thinckness of the head gasket,
although the
combustion chambers can be measured with the gasket in place.
& also does not allow for an engine where the stroke has been reduced and
the piston no
longer reaches the top of the block.
