pining,twin plugging,etc...

Hi Mike,
I just joined the list yesterday, and it is Very interesting reading !
Peugeot have the ignition coils directly on top of the plugs.
I have a Pug 405 Mi16, and have just had to replace two of the coils, as
they weren't producing enough voltage to fire the plugs. Expensive little
buggers here in Australia (about $150 each). Any ideas on what would cause
them to deteriorate ? They get very hot, as you can imagine, but are
seated on a rubber grommet, so they don't move around too much.
As an aside, I am interested in playing with the EFI on the above car, and
was wondering if anybody knew where I could get software to connect to it.
It is running a Bosch M3.2 Motronic Injection system if that helps anyone.
Regards,
Greg.

Hey Rob,
It is not the current that degrade the wires over time it is
the peak voltage requied to get the plug to fire. So two wires would
not help but wires with thicker jacket will, but you sill have to
figure out how to keep the energy form leaking out from the terminals
and then your more likely to have problems with the cap and rotor.
I think the best way would be to use indiviual coils for each plug
with little of no wire, didn't someone have a coil that plugged directly
on to the end of a spark plug ?
