I just recently found out about this list. I wish I had known about it
BEFORE I did the conversion on my '89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

The Grand Wagoneer has the distinction of being the last carburated
vehicle made in America. In 1991, Chrysler upgraded the Jeep Wrangler
with a fuel injected engine and killed the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

Last September, I had the GW's AMC 360 rebuilt. I had the rebuilders get
as much compression as possible out of the dished pistons, change to an
RV cam, and install an Edelbrock Performer (dual plane) manifold. Later,
I had a 3" exhaust system added (3" PFP Catylitic converter, 3"
glasspack, and 3" 3-chamber flowmaster muffler). Wwen they did that,
they installed an O2 sensor in the "Y" pipe. The next weekend, we (my
father and I) installed Holley Pro-Jection 4Di.

I learned a lot about fuel injection. The first thing I found out is
that it will cruise quite well even without programming the ECU box. It
acts real stupid when I try to accelerate, but the oxygen sensor adjusts
the system in a second or so. Properly programmed, it runs great!

I sent a lot of mail to the full-sized Jeep lists when I was going
through the process. If anyone is particularly interested, I can resend
them.

Part of the reason I chose the 4Di is for the computer controlled spark
timing. I haven't figured out a good way to use it, though.

Another future project is to run the vehicle on propane and/or comptessed
natural gas.

I'll post some questions in seperate messages.
