Makes sense to me.  Compress one atmosphere absolute to 5 atmosphere
absolute and you'll generate a lot of heat.  Inject water and it's going
to boil (boyle's law) <:)

Seriously, though, the purpose of the water injection is tht case is to
cool down the intake charge rather then to raise the effective octane
value of the fuel and prevent detonation.
