|
| There is a solution to this - and a friend of mine and I tried
to make this
| work, but we struggled with the mechanicals of it.
|
| You add several chain links to your timing gearset. Then,
taking two
| additional smaller gears, you pinch the timing chain, so there
are now four
| gears involved. The two smaller gears are fixed in relationship
to each
| other, and on a sliding mechanism, they can slide left and
right, thus
| shortening/lengthening different sides of the timing change. In
one
| position, your camshaft is dead-on. In the other position, the
camshaft is
| advanced a certain amount of degrees. By adjusting this on the
fly using a
| hydraulic cylinder as a movement mechanism, the adjustability is
very
| flexible. We skipped the hydraulic unit and used a large metal
bar, with a
| long worm screw in it, which we adjusted using a wrench.
|
| Lower RPMs its advanced, higher RPMs its neutral.
|
| It was a great idea, however we wiped two cams in the process
and decided
| to bail on the idea for the time being, which has now become
about 2 years.
