Hi guys,

concerning the hardware for data acquisition. The schematic
at www.coil.com seems to be a huge overkill for that task.
It might be useful only to those having warez copies of
DIACOM itself. I was laughing to death after i read about
finding 1/2 Watt 2.67K resistors for these simple
transistor switches. Busy looping on PIC timer for
async emulation is also no fun, and forces to use DOS.
Anyway, it is much easier to use
TTL->RS232 converter or to modify the old serial ISA
 card with 16450 + 1488/1489, replacing 1488/1489 with
TTL invertors. It can be used also for other useful projects
( communication with Nokia/Ericsson GSM cellular telephones,
 for example ).
Hopefully i'll do that some time soon.

    Oleg.
