Hello everyone

I'm brand new to this list and very excited about finding it. I
currently own a 1967 Chevy II and I've been trying to research options
for fuel injection, but I have no experiene with it. I'm hoping the
list will be able to provide me with the information I need to build a
good fuel injection system for my needs. On my own, I've only learned
enough to become extrmely interested and equally confused about how to
go about starting my project. I hope my questions don't seem so simlpe
that they annoy people on the list. Well, here I go . . .
I would like to build a fuel injected small block Chevy engine
displacing between 283 and 350 cubic inches - 302 preferably.
I run a 700r-4 GM transmission right now and I want this engine to be
able to provide me with good economy and mileage up to about 2800 rpm
with this transmission (it's a daily driver). I do a lot of highway
driving, too (80 mph @ about 2200-2300rpm) But, I also want some power
above this engine speed. I'm looking for about 330 hp. I would also
like to have the ability to supercharge this engine in the future, but I
would give up that option for a system that can give me what I want now
with reasonable investment. The versitility of the fuel injection
system I go with is also important. I want to be able to tailor my fuel
injection to the engine I build even though a 305 or a 350 aren't my
first choices.
Does anyone on the list have experience in applications similar to
mine? TBI systems seem to be a much more affordable option than GM or
aftermarket TPI systems. Why haven't I seen more TBI? What are TBI's
drawbacks? Benefits? Has anyone seen a TBI with a centrifugal
supercharger? Will I be able to find most of the parts I need for a TBI
system from the junkyard? We have plenty here in AZ. I know TPI is
hard to find at a reasonable price here. If I go with TPI or TBI, what
exactly do I need? Are there other options for a SBC that won't require
me to do any fabrication of parts? Will I be able to get the tunability
I want from junkyard parts or will I have to rely heavily on aftermarket
products?
I think I'll stop here for now. Thanks in advance for your help!

Jeremy
