And here I always thought the opposite--that a dyno, at least in steady
state running is far more demanding on an engine thermally, and that (at
least with chambers that are limited by knock for max power) that you could
get by with a fuzz more timing on the street than on a dyno (at least for
car type loads, not truck or towing apps.
