ECU problems (7730 cold solder?)

Hi,
I just got finished adapting a GM EFI system to a different car. I had just
gotten all the kinks worked out and had the car running well when... it just
died.
Specifically, it is a 7730 computer and after a bunch of fiddling and
figureing on the side of the road (which I won't bore you with) I figured out
that the computer suddenly started telling the injectors to open and stay
open... no pulseing, just constantly spraying. Even if the motor is not
running or turning over, the moment you turn on the ignition, the injectors
lock open and stay open, spraying fuel and drowning the engine.
The first thing I did was check for a short in the wiring harness, but found
none.
The question I have is: Can anyone think of anything other than the ECU (or
harness, which I've already checked) that could be causing this?
And has anyone had this happen to them before? is this a common way for these
computers to go? I noticed in the archives a reference to "cold solder 7730
ECUs" being a problem. Perhaps this is my problem.
I just wanted to check in with the knowledge base here before I lay out a
bunch of cash on a new one.
TIA,
Ted
