IIRC, the ZL1 was the first of the open-chambered HP big blocks.
The L-88 was closed-chambered.

At the time of production, the idea was that these engines were
really intended to be sold as parts rather than in cars.

The first L-88 camshaft I saw came in a GM camtube, had a GM partnumber
but the actual camshaft was stamped Isky 550 Super Legarra. Cost was about
$50 wholesale.
