ion? knock detection....

We have to convert our engines to a cd ignition to have the time to measure
the ions developed
from detonations.
Maybe this will keep us from using it because it will be a big mod.
I think I remember someone writing about using a spark plug in the exhaust
manifold.
Maybe we could keep the sparkplug in the exhaust system clean by fiering
sparks at it while letting of the trottle?
To have a reliable detonation warning when adjusting the efi
calibration,must be a important asset.
Is there other ways to detect detonation on the fly?:
Is a headset with a amplifier connected to the knock sensor good
enought?(to adjust the sensivity of knock sensor?)
A pressure sensor mounted on the sparkplug?
A sudden raise of nox in exhaust?
A sudden exhaust temp.variation?

I am sorry that I just have quetions .
