O2 sensor idea

Ok, so each O2 sensor varies greatly (even from the same
manufacturer), so what about taking a wide ratio O2 sensor, and
rigging a circuit in front of it to make the wide ratio look like a
normal O2 sensor to the computer?   This would allow the computer to
work correctly, and also mean that we would be able to properly (and
reliably) use the O2 sensor for tuning?   

I would thing the circuit would probably need a pic with a D/A and a
A/D and do a table lookup to properly make a wide ratio look like a
normal O2 sensor.  

 Thoughs/Ideas?
