I believe that that is a keg you are talking about, and at least here it is
31.5 US gallons. A barrel is two kegs.

Mebbe imperial kegs is why the Brits think their beer is better?? (Spaten
and Pschorr preferred here, regardless of the liquid measure used on it!)
