 Being a volkswagen fan I would recomend the CIS system for what you are
looking for. I am driving an 83 rabbit 1.8L with CIS that has 200,000+
(more like 220,000) miles that still pulls 24+mpg even though I drive it
very hard. The system is a breeze to set-up and diagnos since it is
mechanical.  The largest obstical that I can forsee is mounting the
injectors, which you have to deal with using any EFI.
	Just my biased opinion though.
